I love food, especially dessert. My mom taught me how to bake when I was a little girl, about 8 years old. Baking is one of the great joys in my life. I love making sweet treats for the people I love, and I want to share my love for baking with everyone on this blog. The recipes posted here are some of my own that I have written, some of my family's favorites, and some classics that inspire me. They are meant to be shared, and enjoyed by all. Please feel free to save any or all of them.

Pretty in Purple
Home made sugar cookies. Yum!! I iced these with vanilla buttercream frosting. This icing and cookie recipe can easily be colored and flavored for any occasion. I like to switch up the flavors with different types of extracts. For example switch out the almond extract for lemon for a citrus flavor or, add cinnamon and frost with cream cheese icing. The possibilities are endless.
Cookie Recipe:
Ingredients:
1.) 1 c. butter (equals 2 sticks)
2.) 1 1/2 c. sugar
3.) 1 egg
4.) 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
5.) 1/2 tsp. almond extract
6.) 2 3/4 c. all purpose flour
7.) 1 tsp. baking powder
8.) 1 tsp salt (if using salted butter omit this ingredient)
Directions:
1.) Preheat oven to 350 degrees. ( if using a dark or glass pan always turn the temperature down 25 degrees)
2.) Cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy (approx. 2 minutes). Add egg, vanilla and almond extract.
3.) Mix dry ingredients in separate bowl, then add to butter mixture 1 cup at a time. Once completely mixed, divide dough into 2 portions.
4.) Roll dough out to 1/8 in. thick on a well floured surface. Flour cookie cutter before each use. Bake until light golden brown approx 8-10 minutes. (Base recipe is from Wilton)
