Pretty in Purple

Home made sugar cookies. Yum!! I iced these with vanilla buttercream frosting. This icing and cookie recipe can easily be colored and flavored for any occasion. I like to switch up the flavors with different types of extracts. For example switch out the almond extract for lemon for a citrus flavor or, add cinnamon and frost with cream cheese icing. The possibilities are endless.

Cookie Recipe:

Ingredients:
1.) 1 c. butter (equals 2 sticks)
2.) 1 1/2 c. sugar
3.) 1 egg
4.) 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
5.) 1/2 tsp. almond extract
6.) 2 3/4 c. all purpose flour
7.) 1 tsp. baking powder
8.) 1 tsp salt (if using salted butter omit this ingredient)

Directions:

1.) Preheat oven to 350 degrees. ( if using a dark or glass pan always turn the temperature down 25 degrees)

2.) Cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy (approx. 2 minutes). Add egg, vanilla and almond extract.

3.) Mix dry ingredients in separate bowl, then add to butter mixture 1 cup at a time. Once completely mixed, divide dough into 2 portions.

4.) Roll dough out to 1/8 in. thick on a well floured surface. Flour cookie cutter before each use. Bake until light golden brown approx 8-10 minutes. (Base recipe is from Wilton)

Mom's Birthday Cake

It's my mamma's birthday this week. Happy Birthday Mom! She's the best mom in the whole world and she loves chocolate so, I made my chocolate chip cake with white(vanilla) frosting for her. This cake is easy to make just add chocolate chips to cake batter. You could use white chocolate chips for a different look and the cake would be just as tasty. I decorated the cake using white and chocolate butter cream and white fondant. My mom absolutely loved it!

Mmm...chocolate chip cookies.

There is no better comfort food to me than a chocolate chip cookie. They can always make me feel better when I eat one. Of course they are even better when you put a butter cream icing filling and turn them into sandwhiches. The reciped I used for the cookies can be found on Pinterest. I tried these for the first time and they are absolutely delicious! I'll post a link for it and a few other chocolate chip cookie recipes I love.

Rocky Road Brownies

Brownies all jazzed up with mini marshmallows, almonds, chocolate chunks and a chocolate drizzle. This one is definitely for all the chocolate lovers! This is very simple to make yourself. All you need is a brownie mix, and items for topping. I used mini marshmallows, chocolate chunks, almonds, hot fudge ice cream topping. De-lish!

Angel Food Cake With An Orange Glaze with Fresh Strawberries

I made this for our weekly family get together. Fun fact for every one, angel food cake is naturally fat free so it's perfect if you are trying to watch your weight. Plus, it tastes super yummy when you add fun toppings like a glaze or fresh fruit and berries.
